Housing assistance and stability
Residents who are behind on rent, need temporary shelter, or are trying to avoid eviction can start with a housing-assistance intake.
When to seek help
Request assistance as soon as a housing payment becomes difficult. Intake staff can explain rental support, mediation, emergency shelter, and programs for people leaving unsafe situations.
Prepare for an intake appointment
Bring a current lease, income information, notices from the landlord, and identification for household members. A program may have its own eligibility and funding rules.
If you have received an eviction notice, ask whether free tenant counseling or legal referral is available in your area.
